Birthday Cards....

Just a quick post with the cards that I made for my Mum, Dad & Father-in-laws birthdays this Thurs & Friday just gone- May seems to be a busy month for family & friends birthdays in our house!
The Magnolia card was for Mother and the SU cards were for both Dads.

Items Used:
1) Tilda stamped & water coloured image; Basic Grey papers, Prima flowers; rub on sentiment; Penny Black sentiment inside card; ribbon, charm & other bits from stash.
2) SU stamped image from Loads of Love set & accessories set; sentiments from Cheers & Wishes set inside card; SU DS papers. Images were stamped onto 140/ 300gsm water-colour paper & coloured with distress inks.

Hope you are enjoying the Bank Holiday- the weathers a bit hit & miss, as normal, for the Bank Holiday. We went to my parents yesterday afternoon for a BBQ tea for their birthdays, but it poured with rain all afternoon, so we had an indoor one instead! Typically the weather was better today!

Anyway, see you later, as I feel there is some crafting to do this afternoon...

Todays class...

Had the pleasure of spending the day at CUL on a class run by the very lovely & patient Kim Piggott. She was showing us the basic techniques of water colouring, using distress ink pads. We managed to do at least 2 samples each, as it was a long process trying to get it right(or as near as we could!) to Kim's sample!
I think I still have a long way to go, but practice makes perfect they say.....

Items Used:
300gm water colour paper; black Versafine ink pad; new Magnolia Tilda stamp

Inks: Antique Linen, Tattered Rose, Black Soot, Brushed Corduroy, Milled Lavender.

As I say, I still have a long way to go to get anywhere near Kim's standards, but I'll keep trying!

SWU Challenge..

Better late than never they say...don't they?
I've managed to get around to entering the SWU challenge this time-although I was up till 10.30 last night finishing it off!
The challenge was a colour one- and one I struggled with as they are not colours I would use often, and certainly not together. However this is what I came up with.....

Items Used:

Baroque Motifs & Whimsical Words stamp sets; card stock- real red, yo yo yellow; brilliant blue & whisper white
ink pads - brilliant blue, real red & so saffron
Paper from hostess pack, pearl dots(non SU) & yellow gross grain ribbon.

I have had this stamp set for a while & not used it, so thought had better dust it off . The flowers were stamped on the base and then stamped again & 3-d with sticky pads.

Hope you are enjoying this fine saturday with its glorious sunshine. I have had a super day at CUL, on a class with the lovely Kim Piggott, learning the basics of painting with Distress ink pads- I will post a picture later.

Well hope you enjoy the rest of this glorious weekend- I am off to make a dessert, as we have family up for tea, have no idea what to do, but sure something will conjure itself up!

Friday Evening Class..

I went to a SU class with the lovely Cary & Gill on Friday night. We had a great evening & made some super cards & a gift box with tea lights. I finished the projects off at home, as we all did, as there was loads to do & the time just flew past!

We used the following items:
Simply Said & Occasions Greeting stamp sets; Choc Chip, Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose ink pads & card stock;Whisper white card;pricking tool & mat; scallop circle, oval scallop & oval punches; Regal Rose gross grain ribbon; flower designer brads; silver brads.

Projects made:
Gift box for tea lights; bookmark card; card; Double Slider card. The projects are by a very talented lady - Jenny Moors. She is a SU Demo, who is always coming up with some brilliant class projects.

I have been wanting to make a slider/double slider card for ages, but haven't bothered as it looked complicated, but it was quite simple to make in the end!
I added the butterfly from the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set, as I managed to smudge the front of the design!
Hope you like these, as they are definitely something I am going to have a go at again!

Thanks again to Cary & Gill for a lovely evening...

Must go, got to sign in for the last night of SWU online classes- its been fun, seeing what ideas other crafters come up with & the live on line chats!
See you later...

SWU Challenge..

At last I have gotten round to finishing a project for this session of the online challenges from SWU. Its the last night tonight for this session- but hopefully Zoe, Natalie & Monica will be back in a couple of months with another fortnight of projects & challenges.
This was Zoes project, using the Flight of the Butterfly stamp set & the gorgeous Bella Blue DS papers( not that I'm biased, as they named these papers after my pussycat, Bella Blue- somehow I think not!!) This project was for a gift bag & cards...

Items used:
Flight of the Butterfly stamp set; Bella Blue papers; Bordering Blue, Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla card & ink pads; Kraft Taffeta ribbon; Oval & scallop oval punches; scallop circle & circle punches.

Me, being me, didn't read the instructions properly & ended up making 2 of each card, and wondered why I was running out of card!

Hope you like these- if you would like to make this set, then please contact me.
Well off to make another project from the classes, before tonight's last night, live chat & Bingo challenge.

Hope you had a good weekend, my don't they go so quick- I'm sure it should be that you work 2 days & have 5 days off!

See you soon...

I Won!!!

I haven't got around to posting for a week or so, and nearly forgot to say that I actually won a crafting prize!! I never win anything, rarely even on a scratch card, so was very surprised to have a message on the answer phone waiting for me to say I had won the raffle prize at CUL for the Scrapbook Day a couple of weekends ago.
There were lots of goodies in there that I will use and a Scrapbook album, which might just encourage me to take up my scrap booking again! Thank you to everyone at CUL for my stash.

Hot off the Press.....

SU have released 3 new colours, as of today, from the new October catalogue, as part of the new Colour Renovation. These 3 new colours are available in the current US catalogue & will be in the new 2010/2011 catalogue available in October this year.
As well as the new ink pads & card, there are ribbons, a DS paper set, called 'Cottage Garden', and a new acetate window sheet set called' Floral Fantasy'.

These new colours are: Melon Mamba, Rich Razzleberry & Soft Suede.

You will have to be quick though, as the ribbons, DS paper set & window sheets, will only be around while stocks last, and not in the new catalogue!
If you would like to place an order or would like to have a SU Party, then please contact me.

I can't wait for these to arrive, so I can start to play!!

Enjoy your Bank Holiday weekend...
